Travelling together from Melbourne?

Hi,

I just got here from Germany for work, but I wanna learn surfing as fast as possible!! Since I'm studying at RMIT University in Melbourne, unfortunately I can't live anywhere close to a beach - and don't have a car either.

Do you have any tips/hints on how to get to surf as much as possible? Are there any people from Melbourne travelling to any of the surf spots regularly on the weekends? Anyone interested in sharing costs for the trip there?

I'd be really awesome if you could give me some advice...

I'm studying automotive engineering, but right now, I'm just doing a research project for the rmit fsae racing team. That's why I need to stay here, otherwise I'd join you in Sydney right away.
