    Hi,

looking to learn surfing. I live in 30 minutes drive from the beach, so my hope is to go surfing as often as I can. I'm not fit (working on that ).

Does it make sense to start with a softboard or should I go directly to the normal ones?

I'm thinking to go with a longboard.

    Thanks.

definitely a normal board ~ i tried one of those soft boards years ago and suffered the worst chafe of my life lol.

The way i figure is that if you are going to get hit hard by your board when you get worked its going to hurt no matter what.
