    Default 6 months in Australia

Expedia Bali 72 hr Sale. Up to 55% off Hotels, Hurry, Book Now! Book by 31 Jan – 2 Feb for Travel Dates 31st Jan – 31st May
    Hi,

When I graduate in the UK, I'm planning to live in Japan for a while and then travel down to Australia where during the six months there, I'd like to learn to surf (something I've always wanted to do).

I wanted some suggestions on the best parts of Australia to look at (can you tell I'm a foreigner?). I'm planning to get a proper job in Japan so I won't need anything serious in Aus - maybe part-time bar work or something like that. What I'm really looking for is suggestions for a good surf school as I've only surfed once before. I'm not really interested in a really built-up one - the ones I find on google seem more like holiday camps - but something a bit smaller - maybe run by a few guys. Once I'd had some lessons, I'd probably go it alone - hopefully having met some people who I could join.

As far as me, I'm pretty fit and I will be 22 when I first set foot in Aus.

Thanks for any help you can give me - I know it's all pretty vague. The trip's a long way off yet.

Awesome, well basically anywhere on the east coast south of Noosa (Queensland) should ensure you get some waves.

    Hi,

On the East Coast, it's the best, there is Manly, Curl Curl...near Sydney and Byron Bay near Brisbane. Gold Coast is very good !!!
Have a good trip in Australia !! Enjoy !

Not to mention perth with some cool breaks there (so I have heard).
If you like great whites pop down south to Port Lincoln, huge waves, huge sharks. In the south I also hear yorkes is good quality. I can understand why you would pick east coast though but if you are not into a fast pace and want to chill a bit more then South Aus would be good. If you want great breaks (but busy city), east coast.
Good luck, enjoy the trip. I would be keen to hear how you go while you are down here.
