Welcome to SurfAus

We are a new site with hopes and ambitions of becoming one of the most valuable resources to primarily Australian Surfers and those who seek to surf waves down under. Surfing has been something i have done for as long as I can remember, since the age of three I was in the surf with my parents, I look back and remember the years of school spent stinging to get home and catch a wave before dark. It is something that stays with you forever as any true surfing enthusiast knows, it is impossible to lose that connection to the ocean, the overwhelming power and epic size is something that truly humbles any individual who respects it as an energy source. A source that can provide more than enough energy to turn a bad day at work into one of the best days of your life.

Surfer....Austin Langridge, North End Boardriders

Although Hawaii may be the surfing capital of the world, the western world may have been very different if Captain Cook was not the man to discover Australia then move on to discover the Islands of Hawaii way back in 1779. On arrival he was confronted with a beach lifestyle never before seen, later on down the track this activity became known as surfing and everything associated with it. Although the British banned Surfing and outlawed it back then as a result of certain 'social' activities, they are more than keen to hit the beach like any of us and learn the art of surfing now. Australia is known as one of the best places for surfers around the globe, with the plentiful amount of waves to be had. The ease of access to most of these places and the laid back Australian attitude towards everything on shore.

The aim for this site is to provide a network of information and easy flow of resources between surfers of all ages. We would like to see clubs and groups use this site to organize events, announce results and get to know other clubs in Australia, share ideas and help each other out. On top of that we would like to help you get your club name out there for the world to see. We would encourage users not involved in activities to consider getting involved, if your new to an area then you might be able to meet up with a few like minded people, share some experiences and develop a great friendship and perhaps get involved in the local surf activities. The site is growing daily in terms of content so the more people add in the forums the better the resources available will be.

There is no set in stone direction for the site, it’s up to you guys to let us know what you want in terms of forum boards and other site related features, we will add new forum sections in as they become needed, if you have a suggestion let Myself (Danoz), Robert or Fitzy know and we will look into implementing them, a near future plan is offering of WebPages for local business and organizations so that people can come here select an area and find all the information they need.

Anyway as I said please get involved, give us feedback on anything that may need changing in the forums and we will be more than happy to sort things out.

Thanks heaps and enjoy your stay at SurfAus

Regards,
Robert and Danoz
