Young surfer Page Hareb of Taranaki New Zealand took the ASP World Junior Billabong Pro in a fierce battle with Sally Fitzgibbon. Sally was on a winner streak however page had what was needed to put and end to it and came out triumfant in the Coffs Harbour competition. The conditions were around the meter mark at Diggers Beach. Page opened with two consecutive waves of 8.75 and 7.75 giving her a firm standing for the remainder of the heats. Fitzgibbons was now in a position where she had no choice but to dig herself out of it with some very solid scores. She did manage to post an 8.75 in the final however it was not quite enough to catch Page Hareb.

In the semi finals it was extremely tight between Airini Mason and Fitzgibbons with only 0.05 separating them, Fitzgibbons managed to take the win in the last five minutes of the heat and the scores finished 13.00 for Mason and Fitzgibbon on 13.05. A local surfer was paired with Hareb, although Angela Keighran has the local support she was unable to take Hareb in the semi final.
Congratulations to Page Hareb for her first win in 2008.
The Junior Men's competition is underway today and results will be updated when they are available.
